Charles Ellis, the author of “Winning the Loser's Game,” describes investment as a Loser's Game and he who makes the fewest mistakes will win  over the long run. Investing is a zero sum game with the retail investors at the losing end. The motivation to level the playing field leads us to start data-driven investing, with the aim of helping the retail investors to beat the odds by cutting through the confusing mass of data and using only the meaningful ones relevant for investment decision.
